Here’s a children’s ministry game that’s as fun as it is messy!

Big Idea: Wisdom is worth the mess.

Bible: Proverbs 4:7

GAME: GUMMY WORM PUDDING CHAOS

Supplies:

  • 1 large mixing bowl per team
  • Instant chocolate or vanilla pudding (make it ahead, about 1-2 boxes per bowl)
  • 10-15 plastic spoons per team
  • Lots of gummy worms per team
  • Paper towels or wet wipes for cleanup

Preparation:

  1. Mix pudding and dump into each team’s bowl.
  2. Hide the gummy worms in the pudding.
  3. Put bowls on a table or tarp (for easy clean up).

How to Play:

  1. On “GO!” one kid from each team runs to their pudding bowl, and bobs for a gummy worm – no hands allowed! They have to snag it using only their mouths.
  2. Run back to their team and tag the next player.
  3. Kids can eat the gummy worm when they get back to their line.
  4. The first team to collect all their gummy worms wins.
  5. Optional: For a less messy version, have kids dig through with their hands to find a gummy worm.

Read Proverbs 4:7: “The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.”

Topic – Wisdom Is Worth the Mess

  • Wisdom is not just about knowing the right thing to do, but actually doing it.
  • Just like you had to dig through a messy bowl to find the gummy worms, sometimes making wise decisions is messy.
  • Like grabbing those gummy worms was worth getting messy, making wise decisions is always worth it, because God’s way is always the best way!

(End Lesson.)
