We all know pizza is the default youth ministry food.

But in order to spark some different ideas, we asked our Facebook community this question:

What is a creative, unique, maybe even strange meal or snack that you serve students and they devour it every single time?

We thought it would be a great idea to share some of the top responses.

So, here goes…

“We have a “can you fry that” night… fried Oreos, fried twinkies, fried anything Little Debbie, fried bananas, fried gummy worms or bears, fried candy bars… the list goes on! They love it! (Well, most of it!)” – Becky Walker

“I saw a meme once that had skittles Reese’s pieces and m&m’s all poured into the same bowl. I thought would be a hilarious trick to play but ended up being a favorite snack, lol! ” – Alexander Thomas

“If you want a dinner event do a mystery dinner served in courses. But when they order from the menu they have code words so they do not know what they are getting. This hands down is our group’s favorite event!! “– Lisa Lagle Wood

“Walking tacos! Bag of Doritos crushed up…open the bag and add taco meat and all the fixings. Eat out of the bag with a fork!” – Cassie Todd

“I second walking tacos. Or nachos. Those were my other options when I changed it up. My youth loved it!” – Curtis Allen Cotton

“Ours love chili dogs in the oven.. just put everything together like normal, but cold in baking dish (bun, hot dog— topped with chili, cheese) and bake til it’s all hot. Easy to keep warm, and the kids don’t string chili all over the counters.” – Tracy Loe Joy

“Waffles. Several of our youth had waffle makers and I had 2 myself. We would set up a “waffle bar” where everyone could make their own. The mix was cheap and it was something other than pizza.” – Allison Wood

“The forbidden cereals! Haha. Like Reese’s puffs, Oreo cereal, cookie crisps, Cocoa Puffs, etc! They destroyed it all.” – Bri Joy

Well, I hope that gives you some ideas for back to school and fall programming.

    Great ideas!!! Thanks for sharing!!

    Some of our favs:

Movie Night hit snack: popcorn with sour gummies tossed in ?

S’mores bar!! With all sorts of mini chocolate bars… Reese peanut butter cups, almond joy, crunch bars, Heath bars, rollos, snickers… the list goes on.?

Grinch Mac & Cheese- I use white cheddar and add green food coloring. You could probably exchange the food coloring for some puréed spinach for a healthier option of coloring but I went with the first option. ?

Our youth group does a lot of different meal ideas:

Sushi Bowls are a all time favorite which is just rice and various toppings like cucumber, tofu, teriyaki sauce, avocado… and then a package of Nori sheets per person.

Ramen Bowls are a package of top ramen and another assortment of veggies and sauces all thrown into their individual bowl and pour some hot water over it and there you have it.
