Summer is crazy busy. You’re juggling a thousand things at once and working long hours.

The only thing that keeps you going (other than lots of coffee) is knowing that your summer events makes a huge impact in the lives of students.

But if you’re not careful, the long hours and fast pace will suck out the joy of ministry.

So, how do you enjoy the chaos of summer?

Over the years, I’ve discovered ONE THING that makes the biggest difference. So, here goes…

Honor your heart, mind, body and soul.

If you’re body is tired. Rest.

If you’re soul is craving intimacy with God, carve out some time to focus on your relationship with Him.

If something in your gut is telling you to resolve an issue with a volunteer, but on the outside everything looks fine…go have that tough conversation.

If you cringe at the thought of doing the summer event that everyone is expecting…don’t do it. What if there is a better event you’re meant to do?

Our minds, emotions, body, soul, and heart will guide us. God meets us there and speaks through them to keep us on the right path.

When you ignore them you create resistance to what’s trying to be expressed in your life and ministry.

They exist for a reason, so pay attention to what they’re saying.

An illustration here might be helpful.

Think of life like a river, and you are the water. Water just goes with the current. If a tree is in the middle of the river, the water naturally flows around it.

It doesn’t get frustrated at the tree or refuse to go around it. It just flows.

Although an imperfect example on many levels, it helps illustrate my point.

God establishes something like a flow for your life. One of the ways you can go with that flow is by paying attention to what your thoughts, emotions, body and soul are saying.

Stop ignoring, resisting, or denying what’s going on in inside you. Honor what it’s telling you.
