WHEN YOU’RE DISCOURAGED BY PEOPLE OR LIFE IN GENERAL
This week my wife and I took a short trip to San Diego, one of our favorite places in the world. We lived there for 3 years at one point, and it has a really special place in our hearts.
One morning I drove up to La Jolla and took a walk along the ocean. The breathtaking views and warm sun were nourishing to my soul. On the walk I was inspired to take out my iPhone and record four 1 minute videos. In each one I share what was on my heart about humanity, life, God and what it means to be human.
I think you’ll find the videos really helpful.
The recent terrorist bombing in New York City, the constant focus of the media on what’s wrong with the world, and the current political climate here in the United Sates can subtly lead us to lose hope in humanity.
Watch this video if you’re feeling discouraged or let down by people, politics or those in leadership:
Watch these two videos if God doesn’t seem to be moving in your life or your student’s lives:
Watch this video if you’re feeling overwhelmed by life’s circumstances:
As I continue my walk I feel tension building up inside me. I want you to experience what I see and feel in this moment. No matter how many pictures I take or videos I shoot, I can’t seem to capture the beauty all around me.
I have this deep desire for you to share this experience with me and feel frustrated that I can’t.
Then it hits me…
I think that God has a deep desire for us all to see the beauty of humanity like he does. To see the hearts and souls around us like he does. To see others through compassion, love, honor, respect, and acceptance. To celebrate our differences.
He, like me in this moment, wants you to see the beauty of others like he does….but all too often we don’t.
We fix our eyes on what’s wrong in the world and what’s wrong with people.
However, if we can take a step back and ask God to help us see what he sees in others. To help us see the goodness in humanity. To help us see what’s good in the world around us.
He might just help us to see clearly.
So, one last attempt for me to share the beauty I experienced on my walk.
Here are some pics I took. I hope they’re a reminder to see the beauty of the people around you. The beauty of your life right now in this moment, regardless of your current circumstances. The beauty of humanity.
